Join Us!

Here’s a little FAQ on joining the Hamburg Garden Club.

What do you do?

We have a passion for growing things and sharing our enthusiasm with anyone who will listen and dig in the dirt with us! We hold monthly meetings combined with field trips. Presentations by area experts supplement our own activities at meetings. We help beautify our community, work with children, plan activities with seniors, learn from each other, volunteer sharing our talents and support for others, and much more. Usually we have light refreshments and small fundraising activities during meetings.

How often/when do you meet?

Generally, the second Wednesday of each month at 10 or noon at The VFW Post 1419, 2985 Lakeview Road, Hamburg. During the summer, regular meetings are replaced with field trips. In case of inclement weather, the rule is that if Hamburg Central Schools close, we don’t meet. You have to respect Mother Nature!

How much does it cost to join?

HGC dues are $30 per year. This covers operating costs, including rental of our meeting site, membership in Federated Garden Clubs of New York State and the 8th District of the organization. HGC is a member of both. Members also receive a quarterly District newsletter that contains lots of information about area activities, accolades, educational opportunities, and such. Your HGC membership card will give you a small discount at some garden and floral stores in the area too!

How much work will I be expected to do?

You can do as much or as little as you want. BUT, the more involved you are, the more you can get out of the experience.  All members are asked to sign up for a committee or event three times during the HGC year.

What are some of the community projects?

What don’t we do? Take a look at our Program/Activities for a sampling. If you have an idea of more we can do with your involvement, join us and lead us on!
